Our History

INTI EDITIONS was founded in 2016 in the commune of Aste, nestled in the Hautes-Pyrénées region of France. Our association’s origins are rooted in a shared passion for the culture of the book and a desire to bring this often hidden world into public view.

The Seed of an Idea

The idea for INTI EDITIONS emerged among a group of writers, artists, and cultural professionals who recognized a gap in public knowledge regarding the book professions. They observed that many readers enjoyed books without understanding the collaborative craftsmanship and editorial decisions behind each publication.

Motivated by this insight, the founders envisioned an association that would act as a bridge—connecting the public with the editorial process through education, cultural events, and hands-on experiences.

Establishing the Association

In 2016, INTI EDITIONS was officially registered as a non-profit association. The choice to base the organization in Aste was deliberate. It reflected a commitment to rural cultural development and a desire to decentralize access to editorial knowledge from large urban centers.

From the outset, the association adopted a collaborative and transparent governance model. Members shared responsibilities and decision-making, fostering a culture of openness and shared vision.

Early Activities

The first years were dedicated to building a foundation of activities. INTI EDITIONS launched a series of workshops that introduced participants to editorial practices: editing, proofreading, layout design, and printing techniques.

Simultaneously, the association began publishing works by local and regional authors, emphasizing artisanal quality and editorial integrity.

Public events such as book fairs and readings were organized to increase visibility and encourage dialogue between creators and readers.

Growth and Development

Over time, INTI EDITIONS expanded its scope and reach. Partnerships were established with local schools, libraries, and cultural organizations to broaden educational efforts.

New formats of events emerged, including thematic exhibitions on the history of the book and collaborative projects involving artists and writers from diverse backgrounds.

The publication list grew, always maintaining a focus on quality and cultural significance.

Responding to Change

The book industry is in constant flux, shaped by digital technologies, market shifts, and evolving reading habits. INTI EDITIONS has navigated these changes by embracing innovation while remaining committed to the values of craftsmanship and education.

The association has integrated digital workshops and hybrid event formats to reach wider audiences without losing the intimacy and hands-on experience central to its mission.

A Living History

Today, INTI EDITIONS stands as a testament to the power of collective effort and passion. Our history is not static but a living narrative of adaptation, learning, and community building.

We continue to welcome new members and collaborators who bring fresh ideas and energy to the project, ensuring that our association remains vibrant and relevant.
